What an affiliate link is
When a page here links to a product, that link usually carries a tag identifying this site. If you buy something after following it, the merchant pays us a small percentage of the sale. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be if you had gone there directly — the commission comes out of the merchant's margin, not out of your pocket.
Affiliate links on this site are marked rel="sponsored nofollow" and pass through our own /go redirect so that we can count clicks without third-party trackers. See the privacy policy for what that records.
What it does not buy
It does not buy a place on a list, a position in a ranking, a score, or a kind word. Products are chosen for whether they solve the problem, and the commission rate is not part of that decision. Several pages here recommend spending nothing at all, which is not a great affiliate strategy and is the correct answer often enough that it stays.

Where the links point
At launch, primarily Amazon.com. We may add other merchants and specialist retailers where they genuinely serve you better. Any commercial relationship beyond a standard affiliate program — a sponsorship, a supplied product, a paid partnership — is disclosed on the page it affects, not only here.
Prices
We do not print prices. They change constantly and a number written into an article is misleading within weeks. Buttons say "check current price" because that is the only honest thing they can say.
