This is a competent, well-documented battery backup for a desktop, and it is one of the few products on this site where a single line of the specification sheet decides whether it suits your machine at all. That line is the output waveform, and it is not the one on the box.

The problem it addresses
Three different things go wrong with a domestic supply, and they need different hardware. A spike is a surge protector's job. A complete cut needs a battery. And a sag — the brief brownout when a heat pump, a shower or a workshop compressor starts up on the same circuit — needs voltage regulation, which neither of the other two provides.
A desktop PC is unusually exposed to the middle two. It has no internal battery, so a cut of a quarter of a second is a hard power-off with whatever was unsaved still unsaved, and on a filesystem that was mid-write it is occasionally worse than that. Line-interactive with AVR is the useful part. Stepped approximation to a sine wave is the caveat.
What it gets right
The AVR is what earns its keep day to day. Rather than dropping to battery every time the voltage dips, it switches transformer taps to correct the supply while still running from mains — so the common fault gets handled without consuming a discharge cycle. On a supply that sags several times a week, that difference is measured in years of battery life.
Ten outlets split five and five is a sensible arrangement for a desk, the LCD gives load and runtime without needing software running, and 8 ms typical transfer is comfortably inside what a PC power supply will ride through on its own capacitors.

Ugly score 5, and it earns it
It is a black plastic tower the size of a small subwoofer with a lead-acid battery inside, and it weighs what that implies. There is no version of this that hides. It sits on the floor beside the desk, it has a lit panel showing numbers, and it exists in the room permanently.
Five rather than eight because APC has at least made it look like an appliance rather than an industrial component. But nobody buys one of these because of how it looks, and the floor space it takes is the actual cost of the ugliness rather than the appearance itself.
Where it stops being the right tool
The waveform, which is the whole caveat
On battery this unit produces a stepped approximation to a sine wave rather than a true sine wave. Most computer power supplies do not care. Some supplies with active power factor correction do — they read the squared-off transitions as a fault and either shut down or refuse to transfer, which is the exact opposite of what a UPS is for.
There is no way to know from a data sheet whether a specific PSU will object. What can be done is checking after installation rather than assuming: pull the mains plug deliberately, with nothing important open, and confirm the machine stays up. Doing that once at installation is the difference between owning a UPS and owning a heavy surge protector.
It is a shutdown window, not a generator
Runtime at a desktop load is minutes. That is by design and it is the right design — enough to save, close and shut down properly. Anyone imagining an hour of continued play is looking at a different and far more expensive class of equipment.
The two halves of the outlet block
Five sockets have a battery behind them and five do not, and a machine plugged into the wrong half behaves in an outage exactly as if there were no UPS at all. Label them at installation.

Who should buy it, and who should not
Buy it if the supply where you live sags or cuts more than once or twice a year, if the machine holds work that is not continuously saved elsewhere, and if you are on 120 V mains. Under those conditions this is a well-specified unit at a fair price for its class.
Skip it in favour of a surge protector if the only real risk is a spike, which is the honest answer for a great many homes — the split is covered in UPS vs surge protector. And skip it in favour of a pure sine wave unit if your PSU has already demonstrated it will not transfer cleanly.
Would we buy it again?
Yes, with the test above performed on day one. The AVR alone justifies the category over a surge strip, and the replaceable battery means the purchase is a chassis that lasts a decade with a consumable inside it — the timing of which is covered in when to replace a UPS battery.
