Five magnetic swivel spark plug sockets, and a wall thickness GEARWRENCH does not publish. On a recessed plug well that is the figure that decides fit.

This is a well-made set that covers the access problem properly, and it does not publish the one specification the job most often turns on. That absence is the review.

The problem it addresses
Spark plugs are rarely difficult in themselves. What makes the job go wrong is where they live: at the bottom of a narrow well, angled away from anywhere you can get a straight pull, under a coil pack that had to come off first.
Two things follow from that geometry. The socket has to reach the plug at an angle, and it has to hold the plug on the way out — because a plug released halfway up lands in the vee of the engine or in the well it came from, and retrieving it is the worst part of an otherwise simple job. The specification that is not on the list
The spark plug guide on this site names thin-wall as the thing that matters, for a concrete reason: an engine with a recessed plug well presents a hole of fixed diameter, and a socket that grips the plug correctly can still be too fat to enter it. That is discovered with the coil packs already removed and the job half-started.
GEARWRENCH publishes drive size, point count, magnetic retention, swivel and material. It does not publish a wall thickness for this set.
That is not evidence the sockets are thick — plenty of good sockets never state it. It means the buyer cannot check the one figure that decides fit, and has to establish it from the listing, from a measurement of their own plug well, or by trying it. On an engine with generous access none of this matters. On one with deep wells it is the whole question.
This is the same pattern as the Cooler Master ELV8's missing load rating: where a manufacturer omits the figure a page's argument depends on, the honest thing is to say so rather than assume the omission is favourable.
What it gets right
The swivel plus magnet combination is exactly what the access problem asks for. A swivel reaches a plug that a straight socket and extension cannot line up on; the magnet means the plug comes out with the socket instead of staying behind or dropping.
Six-point is the correct choice for plugs. A twelve-point socket engages on the corners of the hex and is more prone to rounding a fastener that may be seized into an aluminium head — the exact failure this job cannot afford.
And alloy steel with a full polish chrome finish is the ordinary right answer for something that lives in an oily drawer.

Ugly score 3, and that is simply what sockets are
Chrome sockets in a plastic tray. There is nothing to say about the appearance of a socket set and no version of this product looks different from any other.
Three rather than lower because of the swivel: a socket with a knuckle in the middle is a slightly odd object, and on the end of an extension down a plug well it looks improvised in a way a plain socket does not. That is entirely cosmetic and it is the only thing available to comment on.
Where it stops being the right tool
Reaching and torquing are different jobs
The swivel is what gets you to the plug. It is also a joint that can flex, and on the way back in — where the figure is low and the head is aluminium — that compliance sits between your torque wrench and the plug.
The safer sequence is to use the swivel for access and removal, and to tighten through the straightest path available, checking the figure properly. Why that figure is low and unforgiving is covered in a torque wrench for car owners.
The magnet is the weaker retainer
Magnetism holds a steel plug body adequately and it is not as positive as a rubber insert gripping the ceramic. If the specific fear is dropping a plug into the engine vee — and on a V engine it should be — a rubber-retained socket is the more conservative choice.
One engine needs one socket
Five pieces is a fleet purchase. For a single car, the size is knowable in advance and a single thin-wall socket in that size is cheaper and, on a deep well, more likely to fit.

Who should buy it, and who should not
Buy it if you look after more than one engine, if access on yours is genuinely awkward, and if you can establish the sockets clear your plug wells. Under those conditions the swivel and magnet combination solves the real difficulty of the job.
Skip it for a single car with straightforward access, where one thin-wall socket does the same work for much less. The small-tool argument this belongs to is in small tools that save annoying garage jobs.
Would we buy it again?
Only if the plug wells were confirmed first. The set does what it claims and the claim is not the one the job most often fails on. Measure the well, then decide — and if the well is deep and the number is unavailable, buy a socket that states it instead.
